Pretty! Enjoy your lovely weather!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely day. CatMan and I went for a 35 mile ride, and it was the first time I've been able to ditch the heavy cycling jacket in favor of a long sleeved jersey. Happy!!!
DeleteJealous! I'm afraid I'm stuck with my stationary bike for at least another month--it isn't really bike-able here yet. Boo.
DeleteStationary bike... boo indeed! Of course, there are differing definitions as to what "bike-able" means. When I lived in Norway I biked to school all winter. I fear I've grown much more wimpy in my old age though! :-) Anything colder that mid-high 40's and I'm inside!
DeleteWe are expecting a high of 59° tomorrow, so I'm right there with you! Yippee!
ReplyDeleteSpring, Spring, Spring!!! :-)
DeleteWoah! Spring arriving on the first day of Spring!
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Of course, it's supposed to snow tomorrow evening, but at least I had today!
DeleteAh, I love Spring, We got a bit of sunshine today and all the wildlife was out. I saw a doe and fawn, birds frolicking, and even houseflies. It must be Spring!
ReplyDeleteHa! You know we're winter weary when we're happy to see houseflies!
DeleteOur Spring has temporarily disappeared and it's got chilly again! Fingers crossed it's back soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of Jasper enjoying the sun :)
Well, spring here generally means snow once or twice a week with nice weather between. I just hope the flowers don't bloom too soon and get killed again this year!
DeleteI've always thought it a bit odd to call the equinox the first day of spring, but perhaps it makes sense in your neck of the woods. As Nicola says, spring comes and goes a bit, round here. (but if you've got snow, you can keep it. We had it this time last year, and quite a lot of lambs died.)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... so when do you think the first day of spring should be? Earlier or later?
DeleteMarch is actually the snowiest month here in Denver. This year hasn't been too bad - mostly small storms that come over night and melt off by noon the next day, but back in March of 2003 we had a huge blizzard that dumped 3 feet of snow on us! It was exciting. The whole city shut down, roofs collapsed, power lines were downed - I couldn't get my car out for weeks. I hate to think what would have happened to the lambs if that happened there!
Well, the idea of spring starting on one day is a bit odd in itself, but if I had to pick a day it would be earlier - maybe Imbolc, at the beginning of February. That's when we get the first hints that winter is departing, especially the early snowdrops coming out. The equinox is the middle of spring and Beltane - May Day - is the beginning of summer. Well, that's how I like to think of it, anyway.
DeleteHoly Moly! Well, it certainly points out how different things are in different climates. At the beginning of February we're likely to have a foot of snow on the ground with temps hovering at or below freezing for weeks at a time!
DeleteOf course, we tend to be a land of extremes - with no large bodies of water nearby to moderate the temperatures both spring and fall are sort of crazy weather-wise. September, October, April and May are the months of "anything goes" where it can range from big snowstorms to 90 degree blazing heat.
Hearing about your weather makes me appreciate how gentle the climate on our little island is. Even our hail is much smaller than yours. We hardly had winter here at all this year, it's been very mild (so there'll probably be lots of slugs this year), though we did get a bit beaten up by the wind. Notice the British preoccupation with talking about the weather, here ;-)
DeleteHa! Well, you're certainly not alone in the weather preoccupation. One thing I've never had to worry about in the garden is slugs. I doubt a slug could survive in this climate. :-)
DeleteI'm moving to Denver! We are still experiencing winter spring can't seem to find my location.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at a map on the news the other day. It showed virtually everything to the east of has had a much colder winter than normal, and everything to the west had a much warmer than normal winter. Guess I'm here in the very small "normal" zone! If it's any comfort it's supposed to snow again tonite. :-)
DeleteOh, happy day. Spring is here.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day indeed! :-)
DeleteI haven't seen any evidence of crocus coming up here but soon, I am sure. Our weather shouldn't be far behind yours (I am in Kansas City). We are very much colder than normal here this year. The news today is calling for snow flurries and again tonight and tomorrow night. This may be the winter that doesn't end until May.
ReplyDeleteWait... you mean all this time I've been cavorting with a Chief's fan and didn't know it?!? Just kidding. We had snow and cold yesterday, but today is beautiful again, so I'm sure the sunshine is heading your way as we speak (or write... or whatever it is that we're doing.) :-)
Deleteall the crocuses are out here too, and even if the temperature has taken a drop again, it still looks springy and lovely! I love seeing all the little buds come back out on the trees too :)
ReplyDeleteJust noticed the first little buds today. It makes me so happy!
DeleteJasper is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteWe are not that far away from you (SD), yet our first day of Spring was ushered in with blowing snow and a winter storm warning. Our little area received almost 6" of snow. I am over. it.!
We got about an inch yesterday, but today is sunny and gorgeous again. Here's hoping spring makes it up your way soon!
DeleteHappy spring! Things are still good here, with no AC or heat necessary for the past few months. But soon, summer will be here...
ReplyDeleteHa! I have to admit, it's pretty hard for me to think of the arrival of summer as anything but a joyous occasion. But I guess all things are relative!
